One hundred twent-six years ago, a congregation formed Mount Zion Baptist Church.  Since that time, through struggles, perseverance, and hard work, our forebears developed and laid the foundation for this present day generation.

 

Having passed the one hundred year mark in 1989, it is most significant to note this church has withstood changes in the surrounding community, an expansion of the cities metroplex, divisions and economic strife; remaining a steadfast landmark and a participating community entity.

 

People continue to be the backbone of Mt. Zion and naturally are the primary source documenting it's existence.  While no comprehensive history was maintained throughout the years, recollections from older members, church documents, and area periodicals documented how we began, our changes, and our growth.  It also provides an indication of how we progressed to where we are today.
